Movies, Plays and TV
February 23, 2008 on 6:57 pm | In General, This and That | 2 CommentsIf you haven’t seen it yet, it is a must see. “There Will be Blood” is an extremely intense and excellent film. Daniel Day-Lewis is amazing in the movie, and his acting is incredible, his role is totally believable, and he is a sight to see (in more ways than one). No, we don’t see him bare-chested, as we did in “The Last of the Mohicans”, but, nonetheless, he is definitely a treat for the eyes.
If you want to see a hilarious play, check your local performing art center for the play, Spamalot (not internet spam). I laughed through the entire performance, and it is play not to be missed.
Other than that, I’ll be busy watching the Oscars on TV tomorrow night.
Skirball Cultural Center Current Exhibits
February 17, 2008 on 7:10 pm | In General, Photography Exhibits | No CommentsThe Skirball Cultural Center, in Los Angeles, CA, feels like home to me before I even walk through the front door. I have been there many times over the years to see Jewish exhibits, listen to music, watch a film, hear a special speaker, or just walk around the Center’s interior and exterior.
There currently are some fantastic photography exhibits that are on display at the Skirball Cultural Center. If you are in the area, you might want to stop by and see them.
Bob Dylan’s American Journey, 1956 - 1966 just opened, and runs until June 8, 2008.
The Inflatable Clown runs through April 6, 2008.
To plan your visit, check out the days and times the Center is open.
Sun, Clouds, Birds, Sky
February 10, 2008 on 4:30 pm | In General | 3 CommentsThe sun is shining brightly, the sky is deep blue with cotton candy clouds throughout. It’s a February winter day, as far as wind and temperatures, yet the beauty warms the soul.
The garden is dormant, but will soon flourish with blossoms and color, as the days get closer to spring.
The rose bush I planted in honor of my mother has abundant and very tiny reddish-green leaves, that will turn into full-blown leaves eventually. There will be many roses blooming soon. My other rose bushes are faring well through the frigid and cold evenings
The birds are in flight from tree to tree, flitting about, chirping away, their sounds resounding through the trees in their frenzy to take the lead.
Some settled for a while to rest, needing a respite from the restless flying back and forth.
Life is moving forward in the garden of winter, another day closer to spring.
