Red-Bellied Woodpecker
December 18, 2007 on 10:08 am | In General, Notes From the Garden, Photography |The red-bellied woodpecker is such a lovely bird to watch. They are most common in the southeast, and love to eat out of birdfeeders where there is a special mixture of “suet” for them to eat.
There is a large splash of red from the top of its head to its back, and a slight tint of a light reddish-looking wash on its belly. It is medium to large sized, and has a wide wing span…about 17 inches at its widest.
They are pretty birds, fun to watch…and there are several families of them in my front and backyard.

He is purty! I have some that like to come and peck on my house and drive the kitties crazy. They’re funny.
Hope today is a beautiful one for you. Peace and love always and ever.
