Winter Wheat

November 8, 2007 on 5:15 pm | In General, Photography Websites |

Winter wheat, grows abundantly in the surrounding area. It isn’t only used as a crop to be harvested. There are special spots for it in gardens, near decorative pools and bird baths, and in other yard areas, where one would like to enhance their yard with a serene feeling. I have some near my backyard deck, and it is lovely to look at, especially when it gracefully blows in the breeze.

The finches, cardinals and other birds in my garden love the splashes of winter wheat in my yard, always picking out the seeds and carrying them off. What they drop on the ground, the doves and starlings come by and eat. They are fun to watch…and a life lesson in nature and nurture.

  1. It sure is purty!! I’ve seen it in lots of places. I’m not sure if you’ve told me or if you feel comfortable telling me but I have started wondering where you live. I’ve prolly said but I live in the Finger Lakes area in NY (near Keuka Lake) and Watkins Glen race track.

Anyway, thanks for the photo. Much love, always peace and many hugs.
