Flight of the Canadian Geese
November 25, 2007 on 7:47 pm | In General, Notes From the Garden, This and That | 8 CommentsWhile out on my deck in my backyard earlier today, I heard a strange sound, somewhat honking, somewhat loud cooing and somewhat like a person wheezing very loudly. I looked up at the sky, to where the sound was coming from. There, before my eyes, was a v-shaped flock of Canadian geese in flight.
They looked absolutely beautiful in formation, their wings spread wide, almost gliding through the air. Their long bodies were so graceful looking, and their black heads were pronounced and contrasting in color with their bodies.
I had my camera, but decided not to take any photographs, as I was thoroughly engrossed in their flight, which was quite quick, and before I knew it they were out of sight, although their sound lingered on, echoing in the air.
It was an amazing sight, and one I wouldn’t have wanted to miss, and wouldn’t have wanted to watch through the viewfinder of my camera.

Little Pony
November 17, 2007 on 11:08 pm | In General, Personal, Photography | 12 CommentsThere is a little pony, well, actually he is a full grown horse, but is called a pony because of his height. He is a Shetland Pony, also known as Miniature Pony. He is the cutest thing, all shaggy looking with the sweetest face. I love looking at him as I drive by, or when I am on my daily walk.
He lives on a farm about four blocks from my house, and his owners are elderly. I think they originally bought him for their grandchildren. They take such good care of him, and treat him like a family member. It is clear that they adore him.
Clear Days
November 12, 2007 on 10:58 am | In General, Notes From the Garden, Photography | 11 CommentsSome days are clear, vivid and full of the sun’s illumination. You know what I’m talking about. The sort of day where all colors are enhanced by the light of the sun.
The drought has taken its toll on the autumn tones. They aren’t as vibrant as they usually are. But, here and there, a sparkle of autumn can be seen…subtle hints of the colors of the season peek out through the landcape.

Veteran’s Day…
November 11, 2007 on 12:01 am | In Personal, Photography | No CommentsVeteran’s Day is a day the U.S. honors its Veterans of the U.S Armed Services. In 1954 it was renamed to Veteran’s Day, in order to honor victims of all wars. It was initially named Armistice Day, a day established to honor Veterans of WWI.
The World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. is a tribute to all the U.S. Armed Forces who served during WWII, and is a tribute to those who served on the home front and our Allied forces.
My Father was a WWII Veteran…this photo was taken Veteran’s Day 2005. You are always missed and loved my dearest daddy.
May your memory be for a loving Blessing. “Yitgadal viyitkadash shmeh rabba…”
May all those who died Rest in Peace. May all those who served and are still living, have peace in their lives. Thank you for serving our country.

My mommy died on Veteran’s Day, 2004. She was a veteran of the years of war with her ailing body…
Be Resting in Peace, Dearest Mommy. Three years later…I miss you so…
The rose bush I planted for you always has a bloom on it…even in winter…you blossom year round in my mind and heart, in the hearts of all our family members who so love you, and in the roots in the earth in front of my home. The symbol of your life comforts and illuminates my hours and days, its scent a strong reminder of your essence and presence.
Kristallnacht…Remembered
November 9, 2007 on 5:09 am | In General, WorldWide | 8 Comments“On November 9, 1938, the Nazis unleashed a wave of pogroms against Germany’s Jews. In the space of a few hours, thousands of synagogues and Jewish businesses and homes were damaged or destroyed. This event came to be called Kristallnacht (”Night of Broken Glass”) for the shattered store windowpanes that carpeted German streets.” For more information on the Kristallnacht, and the violence that occurred, visit The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
May all the Jews who perished be Resting in Peace. May all the Jewish Survivors still living…be at peace. May all the Jewish Survivors who have since died…be Resting in Peace.
