At Sea, At Sunset
November 13, 2005 on 4:23 pm | In Personal | 3 CommentsI spent Friday and part of Saturday in Babylon and in West Islip, Long Island, NY, places of my childhood and young adult roots. My brother flew in from CA, and I flew in from home…we met there and traveled to old hangouts, our house that we grew up in, schools, our father’s gravesite, the streams, woods, lakes and beaches of our childhood years, and finally, to the Long Island Sound, on the coast of Babylon, where life was put to rest, floating towards the trestle bridge, and Jones Beach, floating gently, an illuminated trail, moving ever towards the continuum.
We had a fine Italian dinner with several cousins, in a restaurant overlooking the sea, toasting those before us, toasting mom, the last of those three great sisters, and toasting the matriarch of them all, and we had a lovely and meaningful day.
